I was bird hunting south of OKC back in the mid 80's and came across cat tracks.  That is something that will make you freeze in your boots and the hair standup on your neck.  At the time nobody believed they were mountain lion tracks but I knew better because of the size.

I climbed up a tree while deer hunting that looked perfect for a stand. It had a big flat area where the trunk branched out. When I got up there, there was bobcat poop all over the flat area. Does give you an uneasy feeling.

When I was 15 I was hunting in some snow with my muzzleloader.  I had been tracking some deer and suddenly there was a cat track.  It was tracking the deer as well.  I walked no less than 100 yards and I came up on the cat.

It turned and roared at me stared for a few seconds and ran off.  It scared the crap out of me.  I was really wishing I had a rifle with more than one round in it.  Now days I carry a magnum pistol with me when hunting with my muzzleloader.  I like having more firepower just in case.

I have had a cat track me several times. Makes your hair stand up. The one that really scared me was when my horse flipped out at a lion. I never saw the lion, got off the horse and led him up the trail anyway. The lion jumped out of the tree and followed me up the trail. Never knew it till riding out later. Needless to say, I have a very healthy respect for mountain lions, and a huge trust in my mustang!

Nothing like going out in the woods to hunt and being hunted yourself.
