Does anyone know why Swarovski Optics cost a few hundred dollars more than Zeiss and Leica. I own a pair of Zeiss 8X56 Victory and I have used the Swarovski SLC 8X56 substantially. The Swarovski cost close to $300 more and to me the Zeiss is superior optically. I do like the feel orf the Swarovski SLC with the thumb rest on the under side of the binocular.

I usuall see Leica costing a little more than Swarovski and I have seen some Zeiss products cost more then everyone else's.  My guess is that certain product lines have more overhead associated with them then the comparable product line of another company.

Swarovski is a marketing machine and someone has to pay for all of those ads.  Plus I think they subscribe to the philosophy of "if we are the highest price product, people will assume we are the best".

Chris hit the nail on the head.  I was about to say the same thing.

fwiw,
I concur. Binocular choice is a personal thing, however, I've never been dissatisfied with anything from Leica. The BN Trinovids are a real deal... I've owned BA and BN 8x42s that were only
recently replaced my Ultravid BL 8x42s. Good glass, however, there simply was not that much to improve upon(imho). Owned a couple Zeiss Binoculars before that. The important thing, to me, is
less to do with what they cost and more to do with what you get... I'll only say I am not a Swarovski Fan...(fwiw)

Regards, Matt.
