I'd be very surprised if two things will not be in play here.

1.  The Leica's will (should be) better
2.  I doubt the difference will be apparent unless the two are side by side

Maybe three things

You can keep asking about minute differences, but at some point you will have to see for yourself.  It is good to ask to learn, but most of what you ask we can't really tell you. Big Smile

My own opinion is that there is no need in this world these days to spend any more money than you need to buy something from the current crop of $600-$1,200 binoculars.  If one of those is not enough, you probably will never be satisfied.  Even the stuff in the $200-500 range is pretty good these days.

thanks. i mean i wasnt gonna save up for a new pair of leicas i was gonna look around for a slighty used pair. but the zeiss conquest 8x32 demo can be bought for a touch under 700.   i have a leica rangemaster and the glass in it is excellent. cant imagine what the binos must look like. but i hear alot of good from conquest hd as well.

I own the Leica 8X32 Ultravid HD, and there is absolutely nothing I would change about it except its price tag. It's perfect in every way, for me. Needless to say, image quality is superb. I chose it because I liked the series of compromises between weight, size, and performance it represents. It's small and light enough to not be burdensome to hang around your neck all day. Its image quality is so good and light transmission good enough that I don't feel I'm sacrificing any noticeable resolution or much low light performance vs. 42mm binos to make the tradeoff in increased size and weight worth it to me. It's lighter and smaller than both the Zeiss FL (not by much) and Swaro EL 8X32's, and it has less observed flare than the Zeiss. The "AquaDura" hydrophobic lens coatings really work well in keeping the lenses clear of condensation and dirt. Despite its small size, it feels good in my hands ergonomically.

THAT BEING SAID, I fully recognize that mid and upper-mid priced binos have become so good these days that it's hard to justify spending the amount of money the "Big 3 alpha" brands command. If I had it to do over again, I might buy the Meopta Meostar 8X32 instead because it's less than half the price of the Leica UV HD, built very well, yet very close in terms of image quality.

I haven't seen Conquest HD binos, but I have little doubt they're very good. I wasn't all that impressed with the standard, non-HD Conquest binos for the $, however. I believe if I was considering the standard Conquest 8X32, I'd get the Meopta Meostar 8X32 for slightly more money new.

ive considered the meoptas. i own a pair of 10x42 meostar HD its hard to imagine any binocular having a more crisp view. theyre astounding. ive considered the 8x32 as well but just figured id get a different bunocular just to have a different feel instead of owning 2 meostars. the 32mm conquest hd and the meostar are close n terms of price.       part of me wants to try the new zen ray 8x32 hd that gonnasell for around 200 bucks. but itshard to buy less when u have looked thro good euro glass

I have seen the 42 mm Conquest and they are miles above the original Conquest.  They are different enough a name change would not have been unwarranted, except for the established recognition factor.  The difference is enough you can tell the difference without a side by side.  I was never a real fan of the first Conquest binocular.

Now the new Conquest.  It is very, very close to the Victory FL.  The image is a little warmer and I prefer the Conquest actually.  I think optically the FL is better, but you really pay too much for far too little gain...at least as far as I personally am concerned.  The build quality is great, and frankly nobody would likely have batted an eyebrow if Zeiss priced them a another $500 higher.  The Zeiss factor would probably have allowed them to get away with that.

Again, from my perspective, optics like the Conquest HD, Leica Trinovid, Meopta Meostar HD, Vortex Razor HD, Alpen Rainier ED HD, and Leupold Gold Ring HD are good enough to satisfy 99%, even the most picky,of  binocular users.  You can even step down to the price level of the Leupold McKinley HD and the ZEN Prime HD and my statement still stands. The differences will be down to individual perspectives of the ergonomics and how your eyes view the total image package that is perceived by your brain.

Make sure you understand the warranty offered on a used Leica before you spend the $$$.
