I've got it down to two scopes now (I THINK) and wanted some opinions on the better scope here...

Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40
Sightron SII 3-9x42
Sightron SIIB 3-12x42 (big sky)
Sightron SIIB 3-9x42

well some what 2 anyway...just dont know difference between the sightrons but i have heard that the big sky's are good (even though i don't know difference from non-big sky)

thanks

I own a Sightron Big Sky in 4-16x42 and find it to have really great glass.  I have compared it to the zeiss conquest and truly find it hard to discern any difference in clarity and brightness.  My scope tracks beautifully and was dead on when performing the box test.  The scope retains its crisp and clear picture all the way to the edges when using maximum magnification.  I was skeptical at first because it was not a very well known brand when I first bought it...now I have no regrets.  Zeiss makes great scopes and at this point if you are not a name dropper or a brand loyalist try it out.  Between these two scopes I think they are optically equal and it becomes a matter of personal choice of features.  The Sightron does offer greater eye relief of 4 inches and the company does offer a no fault lifetime warranty.  They do not fix your scope they will send you a new one and if the model is discontinued they send you the upgraded one at no cost.  They have great customer service.

Can't speak on the Zeiss, but I have to concur with the Sightron warranty and quality.  Have a couple and for the price, they're pretty good!

I have a Zeiss 3-9X40 and we love it (its on my kids gun). I've looked thru Sightrons, but have not bought one yet.  I have not looked thru the Big Sky's, so can't compare to it.  Either way, you're looking at good quality!

i've got it narrowed down to the Zeiss  Conquest 3-9x40 and the Sightron SII Big Sky          3-9x42. has anybody comarped these two head to head or know somebody else that has.  There is not a SII big sky around here so i might have to travel down state to find one so i can compare myself.

I have the Zeiss Conquest in 3X9X40 and a Sightron SII 3X9X42. Don't have the Big Sky. In comparing the two I would say the Sightron is very close to the Zeiss. The Conquest is perhaps a bit sharper. The reticles are very similiar, either way they are both good scopes. If it were up to me it would come down to what I had to spend. I do not feel that the Sightron is a compromise scope and can stand on its own. It would be cheaper than a Zeiss. Also the Sightron is a bit smaller than the Zeiss, the eye peice is not as large and allows a lower mount and more clearance for the bolt handle.

dave44 has a Conquest in the optics for sale section for $350 plus shipping. This would be a good buy, if you are looking for a plex reticle.

I have both SII 3-9X42 Big Sky & Zeiss Conqest 3-9x40.The Sightron is a better deal.Lifetime replacement warranty this Sightron model is a new design.I would say the Zeiss and Sightron are bright but in low light the Sightron was better.
