I'm confused, one is faster, one is clearer, one does better on animals, the other on rocks, branchs, rain....etc. etc. etc.   I bought a range finder a number of years ago and in most instances within reasonabale hunting range 4-500 yrds it usually does ok, mind you  not good but ok.   So I'am in the market for another....

I'm not a rich man and it will take a fair chunk of change for a nice one, not the most expensive Swaro, no mater how much I would like one, if for nothing more than the Name.....  Something in the $4-500 range, new maybe not.  I see some pretty attractive deals on e-bay and other gun auction sites.

I've read many of the post's and everyone  has a favorite, is their an article that compares the range-finders side x side ???  If not, how do you sift thru all the advertising and get down to brass tacks????

My best advice is the Leica 900 CRF. You will not be dissapointed in this rangefinder. Cost right at $500.00

Sorry for the delay deserthunter. The Leica has the best electronics in the rangefinder businessIMO and the optics are some of the very best in the world. Also the Leica CRF 900 weighs just over 7 ounces. I really think it is the best rangefinder on the market. Hope this helps!!!

I went through this same scenario last month and wound up buying the Leica LRF 1200 Scan from the kind folks at SWFA for $459.99.

I tried the Leica CRF 1200 at Gander Mountain here in Indianapolis, but found I couldn't hold it steady enough because of its small size.  And it was the small size that originally drew me to it.

The LRF 1200 scan, with its boxier profile , was a lot more stable.  Easier to keep the Leica's small aiming oval on target.  And approx $140 cheaper.

6mmbr.com attempts to do this, but seeems very biased towards Leica and Swarovski.  When I tried a few locaally in the store ~50yds. . .The Swaro was slow and needed a wider tunnel to get a reading than the Nikon.  The Bushnell 1500 ARC was pretty good, but so many features that I could not figure out.

When I get my Nikon 1200, I will post a review.
