How does the Sightron Sll compare with the Leupold Varix 3.On the Scale chart the Varix 3 is at level 5 while the Sll is at level 3.
I have read alot of good stuff about the Sll,Why is it rated so low???

Believe it or not the Leupold VXIII is actually a fairly good scope. One of my boys dialed in correction on a 4.5-14x50 LR  30mm VXIII and shot his buck at 328 yds with a 50 cal musket.  I even think the S1 sightron is quite nice for the price. It really comes down to what features you feel you need in a scope.  Leupold seems to have more internal adjustment than almost anything and comes with some really handy reticles and can be custom shop ordered with target or M1 tactical knobs. Leupols offers a very wide variety of optics and some are very use specific. The glass ratings are done by optics experts who have the scopes available to test - so they are what they are. Now that doesnt mean that you cant use a $30. tasco and kill a deer at 100 yds but you just are not going to have the features with the low dollar scopes that you have with the expensive scopes, the bigest factor being the glass and the coatings used on the glass.

I'd also chose the vx3 over a sightron sii, I think its  better to compare the sii big sky to the leupold vx3,  Then its a toss up for me.

Like he said, to keep it apples-to-apples, compare the VXII vs. the SII and the VXIII vs. the Big Sky.  I have all four and like all four.  For me it would come down to the one I could get the best deal on at the time.  I've heard lots of good things about both CS departments too....just haven't needed 'em myself.

S2 fits between Vx-2 and VX-3 (closer to VX-3 if you are to look at them side-by-side).  Sightorn S2 Big Sky is better than VX-3 in every way I can think of.
