I am looking for a cheaper (maybe around $100 or less) scope for my PCP air rifle that will adjust as low as I can get it on parallax. So far the only closest Ive seen has been 5yds which is great but I want to see what other options there are. I dont think 10 yds will cut it for the short end of what I may shoot. So If I need something that will focus up close (think closer back yard plinking and the random venomous snake) what are some optics I should look into? An adjustable power scope would be preferable but probably no more than 12x or 14x. I would assume in this price range much more than that is going to look bad. Im not opposed to the sample list as well so anything I may can find there is fair game.
Being able to focus so close seems to be my largest issue so far in finding an optic that will work. Thanks for any help, Major

I have also been in the hunt for a close parallax adjustable scope for my new pcp. Alas...the closest focus I could find was about 30 yards. A simple red dot might serve you well. Good luck!!

Not that inexpensive at $299, but the SS 6x or 10x work extremely well an an air rifle. The SS will focus down to 10 yards. The Mil dot helps to over come the scope to barrel offset for the close shots. For $100 I have never heard of a scope that has enough elevation adjustment to allow you to dial in from 5 yards out to 30 yards.

Need to follow the rules. Just hard to determine which set of rules to follow Now the rules have changed again. |

I feel a 6X is entirely too powerful for extreme close range shots he is talking about. If shots of only a couple of yards are being taken I would want a maximum of 2X on the low side. Along with a low focus range, this is a very tall order for $100. For starters you can look at a Meuller 2-7x32 APV that can adjust down to 7 yds. This parallax setting is fine for any extremely close ranges I have shot critters (mice) at with my various springers. The Leapers Bug Busters are cheap and can focus down to 3 yds. I do not recommend them at all. I had a fixed power and the glass was terrible. It held zero, but that is the only positive. |
