how much, chronys work great for about $100, pact next level up, then something like Oehler's ballistic lab with pressure gauges, used all, all work great. differences in display, method of measurement (physical placement of reading devices), but not alot.

Thanks Dale.

Should have specified price....Around $200, I guess. I never really priced one.

do you want simple, easy to use, very reliable, SD, ed, velocity, ave, Chronys really hard to beat. , one really nice thing about Chronys, at least the reason I bought it, it's the only one I've been able to get to read shotgun velocities well.

I have a Chrony, works well and sets up easy. For $200.00 you could get the printer option, nice to have a written record. Pact are good as well. Oehler's are wonderful, but out of my price range.

cheaptrick, I had the Chrony and got rid of it (mostly cause I shot one of the rods off of it with my 300WM). I am using the ProChrono from Competition Electronics and like it much better. The shooting area is probably twice the size as the Chrony. I think you can add remotes and other gizzmo's the the ProChrono as well. I think they go for about the same as the Chrony which is approx. $100 or so. My .02.

Thanks, Roy.

I "think" I just need a basic unit. Simple to use and will just let me check my speed on my reloads.

Any advise on where to buy??

I need the tripod too.

(competitor) sells this for under a $100 which I think is a good deal. Tripod's at any camera shop. They make two units, the Pal and the Pal digital which has the capability to interface with a PC. I don't know about you, but I bring enough BS to the range as it is so bringing my laptop never crossed my mind. Just be careful, it's not bulletproof.

I have the Chrony with a hole in the sun shade just like Roy. I kept mine and it still works. It picks up 700fps velocities from my airguns all the way up to 3400fps centerfire rounds. Not too bad for a $100.

Congratulations Dale and Pyro.
