I'm trying to find the best scope for the money to go on my Bushy 20" 'AR' 1/9 twist. It's not a flat top, it has the carry handle. I have an ARMS #2 handle mount. But now...I need a scope and rings recommendation.
Most shooting will be done at 100 - 200 yards. But I would like the ability to shoot up to 400 yards. Targets will mostly be paper.
Ammo used will be .223 55gr FMJ Winchester White Box.
I want to keep the scope mounted as low as possible since I don' t want to add a cheek piece.
I need to stay around $300 for the scope, really more like $250 ish because I still need rings.
I was looking at the Leupold VX1 3X9X40 or 2X7 and also the comparable Burris scopes that most everyone seems to like.
I noticed that the Burris Ballistic Plex is for distance estimation and not to be used as a hold over system. Is there a scope that uses the hold over system that would fit my other criteria? What other reticles would you recommend (wide duplex, fine duplex, et cetera)?
With and without any holdover systems...please give your recommendations so I can stop thinking about this and driving myself crazy.
Thank you for your time. Guss |

Guss,
A Trijicon A.C.O.G. would be ideal but they are $800.00 and up.
You defiantly need something small to mid size with a moderate power range for carry handle mounting. You got the info on the Ballistic Plex back wards ....it is for hold over not range determination. A mil dot reticle is for range estimation not hold over (all though it can be used for both). The Burris 3-9x40 Ballistic Plex scope is perfect for what you have and what you want the scope to do.
