So is it finally time to admit that there may be some Chinese made optics that are not total junk?

If the answer is "yes" then let's list some makes and models that are worthy.

Millet?

Vortex?

I am very pleased with the 6-24x50 Vortex I just got. It is holding zero and good in low light. This is after a hundred shots through a heavy recoiling spring gun.
I will shoot it a bunch more this weekend.
I have looked the scope, the manual and the box over and still don't see where it is made.

The Vortex Viper (2-8 x 35) that I have has impressed me.  It is mounted on a Remington 700 in 7mm-08.  I am no expert on optics, but for the price, I think you get a lot with the Vortex scopes.

The Vortex Diamondback I had for a few weeks was made in the Philippines.

There is a company out now called Osprey International. Office is in White, GA...about 10 miles up the road from me. They are built in China. I've seen and looked through a couple in a shop that I frequent. They are ok I guess. Really won't know how they fair until you get to do a twilight test on one. But I will say that they have one of the baddest illuminated reticules I've ever seen.

Every company has "growing pains", even American companies sometimes produce less than quality items.  My problem with purchasing Chinese products is that the Chinese are our STATED enemies, they want to defeat us and destroy our way of life... they say so all the time.  By purchasing Chinese products, we are funding the build up of the largest military the world has ever known and giving China the opportunity to equip that vast military with modern weaponry... with most of the technology stolen from the United States or given away by the Clinton administration.  I see that process continuing under the current administration.

So, are the Chinese improving in quality and capability???  Of course, they understand markets, probably better than most of our marketing agents now.  WE are paying for the modernization and expansion of all their production capabilities.  It is difficult to avoid purchasing Chinese... look around, what can you find that does not have "Made in China" stamped on it.

I think the Viper line is made in Japan.  I think the cheaper Vortex is made in China.

Vortex Viper scopes are made in the Phillipines (I do believ the plant is owned by a Japanese company).

There are some Chinese scopes that are fairly decent for the money, but they are still not good enough to quite compete with the Japanese.  Still, they are quickly learning.

Probably the best I have seen out of China to date is the Hawke Sidewinder 30 scope I am reviewing.

I will start a thread on it shortly with my impressions to date.
