Taking into account current prices, I just ordered a Monarch 5.5-16.5x44.  I am fairly well familiar with Monarch scopes, but I wanted to try the BDC reticle.

Now, what will cheaptrick's reaction be, I wonder...  (I secretly hope that he will buy a Sightron S2).

Somehow... me thinks that the newly purchased Nikon will find it's self in some sort of black, smoky labyrinth of Evil, so The Dark Lord can do some "unbiased" (cough) testing along side his Legion of Doom pet scope collection.

Now, don't think for a minute Optics Grasshoppers that 'ol koshkin's "tests" will be ALL negative.

That would be too obvious now....Wouldn't it??

He may "begrudgingly" say something about the adjustments being decent or how color coordinated the box it came in is.

"The lens cloth that came with it is nice, but for the money I'm spending, it could be better." he'll say condescendingly.

And lastly.....

Lo and Behold, when the smoke clears, the Monarch that is loved by millions, will "not quite measure up" to his standards.

Just not cut the mustard.

The SII and the Burris "Sig" will still maintain the dubious optics crown.

(Just as he had it planned all along.)

This is how I foresee this unprecedented event (buying a Nikon), will unfold.

You have not kept up with the times.  It has been SII and Elite 4200, although I have more IORs than any other brand.

Wow, that was quite poetic!  I can almost hear the Empire theme from Star Wars in the background!

Speaking of IOR, koshkin, do you know of anyone besides TPS and IOR that offers 35mm rings?

Not to my knowledge.  But I do not think you can do better than TPS rings anyway.  They are absolutely top notch.

SWFA's sale prices on these Monarchs are NUTTY!!

Get  them while they last, cause they won't last long.

Well everyone, I just got off the phone with JW from SWFA and found out that I would not be able to get one as they are being discontinued. I asked if they had one in gloss and they did. It's going on an M7 SS Remy and I'm still happy. Thanks JW.........
