well I was at wal mart the other day and noticed this $99 bushnell game cam. It is a 5mp IR cam that looks like their trophy cam model but the led's are on the bottom and not the top.. It is tiny and fits into the palm of a hand. They claim theat 4 AA batteries last 6 months! I am seriously thinking about buying one but since they are new their is not to many reviews on them so I figured I would ask around here if any of you all have and experience with them good or bad. Also if you have any other cheap game cam reviews I would appreciate other suggestions. Looking for a budget model so I can get a hand full of them.

I know nothing about the particular camera you're referring to, but in general, my experience with cheap game cameras has convinced me that their cheapness is only at the time of purchase. The pile of cheap game cams I've purchased in the past have taught me an expensive lesson. They end up being costly because, in the end, they suck. A cheap game cam is an expensive paperweight. When you buy something that's cheap and it doesn't do a good job of the task it was meant to do, it ain't cheap at all, because you only end up buying something better later to do the task the cheap POS item wouldn't do.
NONE of the sub - $200 I've tried thus far (and I've tried several different brands & models) have lasted more than 1 year or have even performed well enough while they were "working." Either they had poor detection range and missed all sorts of shots of critters, or they produced poor image quality, or produced terrible nighttime pics where you couldn't make out the animals, or the flash stopped working, or they had runaway PIR detectors and shot 1000's of false trigger pics with no critters in them, or the case leaked and rainwater killed the electronics, or they simply quit working altogether. Buy a decent quality game cam up front (which will cost $250 and up), and be done with it. There's a reason the cheap game cams are cheap. |
