Is this the same man that supported Mugabe and campaigned against Ian Smith and Rhodesia in the 70's and 80's?

Mugabe “horrible and corrupt oppressor”: Jimmy Carter

Former US president Jimmy Carter has launched a blistering attack on Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe this week, describing him as “horrible and corrupt” and calling for his removal, writes Eddie Botha from Atlanta.

Carter made the remarks at Atlanta’s Carter Centre, where the Dispatch’s Botha is attending the “Conversations at the Carter Centre”, hosted at the former statesman’s library.

On Tuesday, Carter said he was excited when Mugabe was elected to lead Zimbabwe in 1981 to replace

the apartheid-style Rhodesian government.

“But he turned out to have been a horrible and corrupt oppressor,” said Carter.

He said Mugabe had refused to let him and his Carter Centre delegation into Zimbabwe to monitor that country’s elections. “He has formed this fragile government with the opposition party.

“But it would be better for Zimbabwe’s future if it had honest elections and they let him (Mugabe) leave…”

Carter said Zimbabwe had the potential to have been a great agricultural producing nation.. “Under the Mugabe regime production has dropped. The future of Zimbabwe will be much brighter if they get rid of Mugabe,” he said.

Last year during a similar event at the Carter Centre – also attended by the Daily Dispatch – Carter disclosed that the closest he had ever came to a fistfight was during a dispute he had with former SA president Thabo Mbeki.

The man who led the USA from 1977 to 1981, said it happened while he had been discussing the availability of funds for antiretroviral drugs for HIV/Aids sufferers with Mbeki.

Carter said Mbeki had refused aid, and claimed that it had been a ploy by the whites to destroy black people in SA.

The former president and his wife, Rosalynn, hosted a function, which included a number of journalists, including one from the Daily Dispatch, who have received fellowships from the Carter Center for Mental Health Journalism.

During the Coversation at the Carter Centre, the former president and his wife reported back on their work done during the past few months in the field of election monitoring and health services to disadvantaged communities.

Well....... I give credit where credit is due. He atleast can recognize that he was a moron in this instance. Question is, how many other things (most every other thing) has he been wrong on, (like almost every Democrat) and still doesn't or can not see it.

Well, do you suppose I am surprised by this? Nope. Not at all. How many here said that once Obama took office that when his agenda met opposition, it would be labled as racially motivated? The answer is almost everyone here said or agreed that would happen.

Tea partiers= Racist whites that can't get past a black man as president.

9/12 ralliers= Same as above.

Town Hall protesters= Same as above.

Those that will end up saving this country from the morons= Same as above.

Just further proof of how the media loves putin a mic infront of idiots. And with carter, once and always the idiot. Since the day of his election I've been embarrassed that he is from the South. Another time when there were better options.
