A few weeks ago after mounting my Burris FFII and finding the issue with it, I took it back off and threw on my Nikon Prostaff again. I'm using the Burris Signature Zee rings I went to sight it in and to my surprise it shot great and hit the bullseye at 100 yards without any adjustments. to be fair, it was sighted in before, but still I figured it would be off after removing it and remounting it. Anyway, I got it back out today and realized that when I mounted it the inserts weren't straight. They are angled like where you can normally see a slight part of the inserts on each side of the ring, you can only see plastic on one side at the top, and it's the opposite side at the bottom. so the insert on the rear ring just isn't centered in the ring. I'm wondering if I can just loosen the rear ring and fix this, or if I need to loosen both rings and tighten then back down to keep the scope from binding? This is something I've never really dealt with before.

I had the same issue with my rear ring - the top half was tipped forward a bit. I loosened it up, straightened it, and retightened it. Haven't shot it since but with the inserts being spherical and in the right direction to begin with, I'm not anticipating a big difference in poi.

Good to hear that the scopes are not at fault and that you've identified the issue.

When it comes to the Burris, the scope was at fault. The rings weren't like this when the Burris was mounted. I talked to Burris last week and they told me that the scope did have an issue and that they had fixed it, but it was waiting for final testing before sending it out.

With this Prostaff to my surprise even with the inserts like this it still shot great and worked perfectly, I just know it can't be good for the scope. I hope I've not damaged it by shooting it like this, but since it worked fine, I'm thinking I'm probably good to go.
