be had for around the 500 range in the Hunter model? I've seen a few new ones around 600, but not a whole lot under that, besides a 338 win mag. Any other websites besides gun broker that people would recommend?

I've seen a few in the $500-$550 range at some of the local gunshows. Usually in excellent cond. I will be at a show this Sat and will let you know if I see any, and will get you contact info if there's anything I think will interest you.

I don't know what's left but I just bought mine for $550 from Bass Pro who matched Scheels sale (last one) price on a 30-06.  I went to Bass Pro because I had some money back points, otherwise it wouldn't have mattered where I bought it for that price.  I feel I got lucky and my patience paid off as I was ready to buy when the sale came up.  I almost bought a Savage but liked the Tikka wood a lot better.  Nice looking gun.  Good Luck!

If so, I'm looking at either a .308 or 7mm mag. New is preferable. I'm still talking to the wife about when I can start spending money on it. Sunday I'll be moving to Louisiana, so pm me, and whenever I get the chance to get online, I'll check it out. I appreciate HuntMaster.

the t3 lite sells for $500 everyday at a lot of stores, the wooden stocked hunter for $500 is going to be a little more difficult to find.

Yeah thats what I'm finding out. I really enjoyed the feel of the one I held the other day, over the synthetic stock.

Don't rule out a nice Hunter model 695 Tikka as well. Sometimes you can find them for under $500.
I've got a left-handed model 695 in 30-06, it's one of the most accurate rifles I've ever owned. I got it and 2 boxes of Winchester Supreme ballistic silvertips for $518.
