Got the Caldwell Wind Wizard as an early Christmas gift from my uncle. Anyone have one, or know of it's performance?

It is a good hunting aid, which is what it was designed for.  Accuracy is reasonable, but begins to get "squirrelly" at extreme temps.   I went to a Kestrel for precision shooting, but the Caldwell is a wonderful hunting aid.
None of the ones I have used are what I would deem "rugged", I don't think they will hold up to
"HEAVY" usage.  The Kestrel has to be recalibrated for humidity more often than I like (realistically, every time you intend to use it for precision).
Overall, you are better off with than without.

Thanks for the feedback K boxer, I'll be using it more for p.dog'n in conjunction with my Leupold varmint hunter reticle than anything else probably.

I believe you find it a quite welcome addition to your "toolkit".
One of the groups I shoot with shoots 20 rounds in 20 minutes, no sighters, no electronics, no wind flags, varied ranges from 500 to 1000.  I have tried to make them see the "light" so to speak on some of the eToys, but they are HARD CORE.  No go.  Pays to be able to use a mildot reticle.

Actually, it is refreshing.  One must really work the basics to shoot under those conditions.  Not as fast as with the "toys", but certainly hones the skills for times when the "toys" may not be available.

I need to do that more often. Usually the only electronics I have is my rangefinder, but I should try to range with the reticle more often. You just never know when your rangefinder is going to fail. Anybody have a durability report on Geovids?

Hey trigger

I have a Geovid 10x42.  The first hunting trip I took it on was on a Colorado Elk hunt.  Made the mistake of setting it on the bed rail of a truck for just a second and it fell to the pavement from that chest high height.  One barrel would not focus after that.  Sent it to Leica and they tried to give me a 3 month repair time but I begged and pleaded (and cried) to get it back in 3 weeks for the rest of my hunting season.

Based on that I would have to say that they are not armor plated.  However I have not had any problems since that trip over a year ago.  The battery is still the original one and has not run down.  I am more careful now.

I will say that they are excellent and I don't think I can go back to using any other binocs.
