I bought myself a new scope recently, a Meopta MeoPro 6-18x50 SF, and I am very impressed with everything about it, except for the length. I don't like long scopes, and this one is almost 16" long ! However the glass is extremely nice, and the turrents, side focus, etc all work as smooth as glass. I bought it at Cabelas, and was surprised to find out it is a Meopta MeoPro :

I have not mounted it yet, and was thinking that while it is brand new I would try and trade it for a shorter scope. Can I get some suggestions on scopes that would be a nice sideways trade ?  I only require parrallax adjustment and a shorter size. Thanks for any advice.

What are you planning on using the scope for?

Just curious as to what your intent is for the scope; IE hunting, range work, plinking?

This scope will be used for two main purposes : Hunting and target work.

The scopes I figured I would try and trade it for are :

Elite 6500

Minox ZA5

or maybe a Big Sky

Nice looking scope ... but at 22 oz it is probably heavier than I would prefer.

Scope length allows for a simpler optical design, i.e. you can get good performance in a comparatively inexpensive optical system.

As far as your replacement options go, if weight is a concern, consider Minox ZA-5 3-15x50.

It's not that noticeable.  I have the 44mm obj version on a CZ 527 and it works well.  I will throw out there that at least to me, my Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x50 has better clarity, depth, and color at high power.  Something to consider.
