I will be in Germany for a couple of weeks next month and was wondering if it is cheaper to buy a scope while I'm there.  I would really like to pick up an IOR scope.  Anyone done this?

Thanks!!!

IOR's are made in Romania, not Germany.

Are you suggesting that you might be able to get a better deal in Europe than here in the States??

I doubt it.......

hello tplace,

If not a better deal; you may be able to see where and how those optics are made.  Sometimes, that is better than shopping.  For example, when I saw how well the company who makes my boots, made them I had no problem justifying the more expense of owning them.  So it may hold true for you and your purchase of optics.

If say for example you were able to tour the Zeiss facility or take a tour of the Leica plant, then that might give you a nod to buy them.  Hard to say.

Going to Romainia is not really out of the question, if I could make it worth my while.  I realize the exchange rate is pretty bad right now but I wanted to ask; after all, I'm going to be there anyhow

I lived in Germany for two years.  Any product that is made in Germany will cost less in the States.  They have taxes that our politicians have thankfully not yet thought of.

   Hello All!,

Well get them all while you can still buy them.  I mean everything. Guns, bullets, powder, primers and the rest, I have a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach that if we are ever silly enough to put a Democrat in the White House again, we will be all viewed as terrorists.  The domestic type.

Not that any of us are.  It just thoroughly disgusts me every time I look back on history and see how fervently the left wingers try and continue to try to take away our rights to own a legal hunting, target, semi-automatic rifle, shotgun or pistol.  They never quit!         I think that they are clowns, but they are persistent clowns; which goes to say that if you own anything that anyone can take away from you by a law, or even your in-laws, and you are not a member of the NRA, then you are fooling yourself into fantasy land thinking they will get tired and give up.  They have not yet, and as long as they have funds will not.  Don't forget that the World through the judicious use of the UN is also trying to take away your rights to own a gun.

It never fails.  The moment that the morons of this country think that you are having way too much fun owning and using a product they attempt to legislate it right out of existence!!!

I own Leupolds and Burris scopes for the simple fact that they are made here in the USA, and are optically superior to some of the other scopes I have owned.  If Nightforce scopes were made here I would own at least one of them as well.  Or any other scope manufacturer for that matter.  Since, scopes made by Kahles, Swarovski, and Zeiss also support the NSSHA fund I consider them as well, but I do not as a rule by any Japanese made, or Chinese made product, because I am taking away the potential prosperity of an American.  That is just the way I feel.  It may not be rational, but I am well served by the products I buy.  And the deer I kill, are paid for by me, and shot well by me.  I do not feel the need to promote another country's Gross National Product.  Soon it will get to the point that if you are not isto some GEE WHIZ BANG industry in this country, you will be among the working poor, unless you are part of the independently wealthy.  That is what it sometimes feels like in this country, is that we are all trying to kick each other in the nuts.

           Enough said!
