Ok, I was thinking I was going to buy the Meopta R1 model for around 600$ but you folks here and a buddy at work are pushing me toward the Kahles.  Only problem I am having pulling the trigger is the 'like new' stuff on the samplelist.com page.  I have no use for the MZ.  So, my question is this:

Anyone willing to go out on a limb and say Kahles will support a warranty on a scope off the sample list?

I have emailed SWFA and the samplelist folks but havent gotten a reply yet.  There is a thread somewhere here I read (but can no longer find) that said you could register a new purchase of a used scope online and Kahles would honor the limited lifetime warranty.  Any confirmation on this?

Thanks for your time.

Just in case anyone has to have my hunting data:

Germany
Deer, Pigs, Fox
Tikka T3 Lite Battue 30.06
Sako mounts

I hunt primarily late evening and early mornings.  I also do not wish to spend 1500$ on a Schmidt and Bender (which I have looked at) if I can get a comparable Kahles/Zeiss new or used (with some form of warranty).

Thanks again.

Kahles will give you a warranty.  The Kahles scope I bought off the sample list came with a warranty card.  They don't track the cards, if you called and said you had a problem they would encourage you to send the scope in.  They don't want a black eye, they just say they don't transfer warranties to keep the flood gates from opening.  Call swfa and get them to pull the scope you are looking at off the sample list and get them to look at it for you and they will give you a detailed description and tell you if it has a card or not.  I read on another post that someone called Kahles about this same question and Kahles said they would give them a warranty card to send in.  You won't need the warranty anyway, you won't have any problems out of a Kahles.  I have a C 3-12X56 w/a #4 reticle, it is very easy to see in low light, I would recommend the same scope to you, illuminated reticle is not needed unless you are hunting at night.  There are some unbelievable deals on the sample list right now on Kahles scopes, take advantage.  You will not be disappointed, you won't be able to tell a difference between a Kahles, Zeiss Victroy, or S & B, they all have amazing clarity.  Good Luck.

SWFA will not export they only sell to U.S. customers.  If you are in Germany try livioptik, if they cant help you they can probably suggest a vendor.

I am in Germany yes.  I am an American however and supported logistically so I have an American address.  I emailed the sample list folks and asked if they shipped to an APO but I think they are dead in there really.

Thanks for the feedback.

As to the Sako mounts, they came free with my rifle so I can not complain about them too loudly.  Free is good with the way the exchange rate is and what it costs just to start up hunting here <grin>  Trust me, it aint cheap nor is it easy but its a ton of fun.

As for the illuminated reticle, I have hunted from 5pm til 3am just last week so though not a must have, the lighted reticle is a plus.  I shot a fox last week at 2320hrs.  I had the binos atop my scope to verify the target.  It was a challenge but it made me smile.  The Kahles scope I am using is a non-illuminated #4 and at 8x the post was as large as the fox's white throat patch at 60m.  Made for an interesting shot and got me thinking that illumination could be a good thing.
