Hey guys, i'm looking to buy a rangefinder, I really don't want to spend more than $400, i just simply cant bring myself to spend that much on something electronic. I know. Leica is awesome, its just out of my budget.
these are my top two choices so far
http://swfa.com/Bushnell-7x26-Elite-1-Mile-ARC-Laser-Rangefinder-P68531.aspx I've seen this one  sale a few times for $400 ish. and i'm hoping as the new model comes out I might get one for around 4.

the vortex option  is soley based on their warranty.  I can deal with spending that much on electronic device if its got their forever warranty. Although doesnt matter how good the warranty is if the product just doesnt work well.

I've heard excellent reviews on the bushnell mile arc.  nothing really bad on it from what i read.

So at my price range is their anything else. Are these options even worth buying at $400 or less or are rangefinders  kinda either go Leica or dont bother? It will be used hunting/practice. furthest id range deer is probably 5-600 yards.  (not that id take a shot at those ranges, about 400 would be furthest i'd ever take a hunting shot  and thats under perfect conditions) generally shots will be between 100-300. Targets out to 800+. the bushnell is my top pick, but is it gonna hold up. The warranty is a year.  2-3 years down the road is it still gonna work?

I'd get the vortex, just my 2cents. Cant beat the warranty. It's obviously built well if they warranty it for life. Either way theres no worries. I like that. I bought one this spring for golfing and will be using it in the fall for hunting as well. So far so good, love it.

What's the furthest you actually been able to range game vs something reflective?

If you are out in the flatlands doing prairie dogs get the Leica. Most really struggle with the weeds that you end up ranging on.

Ahh the start of the RF evolution for you, we've all been thru it so pay attention. There are two choices Lieca 1600 or Vectronics LRPF15. Every thing else is a waste of your money. I'm just sayin! I am runnin a Vectronics 15 and it's awesome.

I have a Bushnell 10 x 42 ARC 1 Mile LRF and love it for hunting and pre-competition target checks.

All the reviews I've read say they are "the best for the money" and the best of ANY LRFs for "Brush mode" (reading distance through brush).

Old thread, I know.  But, nope, our opinions about lrf's last year are now rendered obsolete by the recent introduction of the Sig Kilo 2000.  Do your homework.  Don't get emotionally invested in yesteryears conclusions.

I've personally watched the Sig dominate the Leicas and Leupolds in the field.  The game has changed and Sig owns the show.
