I was wondering how you guys would compare the Bushnell Elite 3200 to the Leupold VX-III

Never owned a vx-III, but my 3200 10x has better glass than my vx-II 3x9.

I would say they are comparable, based on my experience.  But I like my 4200's better than the 3's.

VX 3 gets my vote here.

I have been underwhelmed by the glass quality of the 3200 series.

The Bushy 4200 would probably rate closer to the VX 3.

If at first you don't secede...try..try again.

+1 for Cheaptrick's observations.  I'm not too impressed by the Bushnell 3200.  Leupold's VX-III is noticeably brighter than the older Vari-X  models.

Why not buy a 4200 for less money than a VX111 and get better glass and scope in the process!!!

I'd say the 3200 is not up to the same glass as the VXIII  I'd put it more inline with the older VariXII or a VXII.  The 4200 is better glass then the VXIII and less money

I know everyone is pushing the 4200, but i'm looking for a gloss finish.  Why Bushnell why would you make you're best scope in matte finish only?

Would the 3200 compare with the VX-III as far as holding it's zero shot after shot?

I have had absolutely no problem with my Bushnell 3200's holding their zero shot after shot. I have them mounted on a .300 WBY Mag and a 7MM Rem Mag. I use these scopes a lot, and they take a lot of abuse. The rainguard feature is also a plus, I wouldnt buy a scope without it.

The 3200 is ok only, sure it has the rainguard, the 4200 is a big step up in optical value, My experience has been that the Vari-X III is not quite up to the 4200, but quite a bit better than the 3200.

I have a 3200 that is about 7 years old. I would not buy another. This year it started fogging up and will not hold zero on a 270rem. It has gotten shot about 4 times a year. Other than that it is in my gun cabinet and has never been dropped. I am in the process of buying a better scope.

The Bushnell Elite 3200 is a good scope for the money however the Leopold VXIII has the edge in optics.Try a Bushnell Elite 4200,it has brighter optics has the Raingaurd and cheaper. You can compare the VXII with the 3200, optics are very close but you would prefer the 3200 due to it's Raingaurd which works & lower price. Also look at the Sightron which I believe has the best service in the business, you can find a great deal on the internet auction site on any of these scopes!

I also preferred the gloss finish, but the scope I now have only comes in a matt. The matt finish grows on you and I really prefer/do not mind it at all. I would not let the finish be the deciding factor if I could give you advice.
