Welcome to the forums.  The new Weavers in my opionion are better then ever.  The Grand Slam is one of my favorite scopes.  Performance wise, its right up there from the offerings of Nikon, Burris, Pentax and Leupold.

As for the V9, I think it is a much better scope then the Bushnell Trophy.  My thought is it right up there with at least a Bushnell 3200 elite..perhaps even a bit better.  Eye relief can be a bit short for some hard kicking magnum guns, but on normal rifles should not be a problem.

If your willing to spend a bit more, you could go with either the Burris Fullfield or the Nikon Buckmaster both of which are very good scopes and can be had at a decent price.

Once again welcome to the forums. By the way love the avatar, my father was First Cav. in Vietnam.

I swear by the Weavers. We hunt hard here and I have never had any of my Weavers fail me. 3 of them are old steel tubes (the way they should be made) and I have a new V9 aluminum tube. The Classic series are still a goodlooking dependable scope and I'm sure the Grand Slams are rock solid, but they are horses a$$ ugly.

My .03 cents.
