From my perspective they work o.k. I put some on a VXIII 2.5-8 X 36 a couple of years ago. The scope has been sold, but I still have the raincote lens. Maybe I'll get another Leupy and use them again. Anyway, one additional advantage is that they offer some extra scratch protection for the lens.

Yep.  A good idea that took the scope companies only 50 YEARS to figure out.....besides, Leupold could charge you extra for the accessory rather than upgrade their coatings.  ( That's using their little gray cells!!! )

My luck, I'd end up forgetting it at home if I didn't leave it on 24/7. Bucky

I have a concern with putting two pieces of glass in front of lenses that I paid ALOT of money to have a quality image pic through.  Legit concern?

I always wondered about that, too....but since it's been done with cameras for years, I guess they have it figured out.

That's a VERY GOOD point Ed! Excellent  I guess that's why Chris pays you the BIG money though.

Legit concern to my way of thinking. Any time you add a glass surface, you diminish light transmission to some degree, however small.

Still better than raindrops all over it, I guess.

I thought the same RONK but I checked and see that a clear UV protecter lens is sold to screw on high quality lenses for 35mm SLR camaras.  Now I'm not so sure about adverse affects on Leupolds scopes.  "I"M SO CONFUSED!!!" (John Travolta aka Vinnie Barbarino)

All my high end camera's have UV lenses and I don't think they effect the picture quality in a negative way at all; same when I use a polarized filter, colored filters, etc.

I would think it's probably the same deal with the Leupold Alumina Raincote kit and possibly the Alumina Lens Intensifier kits. Maybe a call to Leupold is in order?
