My friend has a scope that he calls a Bushnell Limited Edition, he says it's the same as an Elite 4200 without rainguard but cheaper. Is this true? I looked on SWFA and didn't see any...... Does Bushnell still produce them?

I bet it was the version that was made for Browning.  IIRC the scopes that Bushnell made for them were 4200s minus the rainguard.

Balvar was a B&L name prior to the B&L Elite 4000 in the mid 90's and for a year or two in the late 90's B&L made the first 4200's with Rainguard.

supertool has that correct as well. Shortly after Browning got out of the riflescope business the Elite 4200 3-9 appeared with RG.

Well it was only a couple of years ago at most when the Browning scopes were out there so if the scope is new or lightly used as 95% of hunting scopes are these days, if you could get the scope at a good price why not. They still have the lifetime warranty as far as I know.

I have a Browning 3-9x40 and a Bushnell Elite 4200 3-9x40, both are optically identical to me. The Browning has a tad more eye relief and is slightly easier on the eye positioning. The same optics, just no Raingaurd and the tube has a funny staggered drop off from the big bell to the main tube instead of a gradual smooth taper. Looking through the two backwards the internals are identical in appearance also. Good scope.
