Welcome to Optics talk.

Please don't link other optics vendors on this site. SWFA owns and operates this site and we try to be respectful of this, as I'm sure you can appreciate.

With that out of the way, I have the Weaver you mentioned and have found it to be a good scope for my CZ 452.

Have you considered a fixed power scope for your stated purpose? I'm thinking maybe a 10x SS, or the like.

^^sorry about that. i cut and pasted the make/models from the site on word while drafting my post and couldn't figure out how to fix it when i sent out the inquiry...

anyway, thanks for the welcome, i look forward to learning a lot on this site! like i said, i'm relatively new to all this, so the learning curve is huge....

i'm afraid that i haven't really looked into a fixed power scope, but will always consider suggestions from the collective wisdom of the group. i really just want a scope that i can grow into as i pursue my hobby, one with superb optics and a price that won't break the bank. oh, and bonus points if it's available in silver to match my rifle, haha Big Smile

well, i'd like to keep it to under $200. a shipped price of between $125-170 is ideal!! oh, and i've also considered a mueller apv, but the scopes i mentioned seem to be a better deal with a promotional discount, free shipping and rebate...

Welcome to the OT!

You can get a used SS10x off the Sample list @ SWFA for about what you are looking to spend.I have the 10X on one of my ar15 self built .22 & it's great that I can get focus down to 10yrds + the scope is built like a tank & holds zero all the time.

i have a bushnell elite 4200 6-24x40 and a redfield revenge 6-18x44 which i interchange using in my ruger 10/22 stock carbine..

i know it's a bit of an overkill as far as power is concerned for a .22 rifle but i got both scopes at very reasonable prices so i figured better more power than less..

the bushnell elite 4200 is the one i use the most...it's great at my maximum shooting distance of about 100M for now but am sure it's also going to be good at more than that..

...don't get me wrong as the redfield revenge is also very good....the bushnell is just better..

PS..the bushnell had an original MSRP of about $470 and the redfield revenge about $260..

I'd keep an eye on Bushnell Elite scopes.

Weaver you've suggested has lower magnification and just a 28 mm lens which will make image not that bright and lacking field of view.

Now reticles. Why do you want Duplex or Duplex oriented reticles? For rimfires and airguns - Mil-Dot and Mil-Dot modifications are sweet, because it makes much more easy to aim targets at different ranges without touching turrets.

Also, as it was said above, check SWFA SS scopes - Im using one and Im satisfied with it.

12x magnification suits me well for small game hunting and paper targets at 50 yards.

Good luck!
