Does the New Elites have the same thin turrets knobs like the 3200 & 4200's or did they change them?

I assume the glass is still the same as the 4200 and not the 3200, right?

I see SWFA has the 3-9x40 w/ side focus but didn't see any info such as lowest parallax setting.

The glass varies by model the fixed 10x may not bear the 3200 marks but its the same scope. The 4-16 that was once called a 4200 is essentially the same scope and one more objective choice was added. The 6500 scopes have been thrown in the mix also.  Look for subtle changes for the most part it's smoke and mirrors same stuff different name so far as I can tell but it was good stuff to begin with.
MINIMUM Parallax setting on high power rifles is typically useable around 35 yds clear at 50 set at 100.  The higher the power of the scope the more critical the focus becomes with high magnification scopes often being very short in the distance front to back (depth of field).  I have a 2-7 weaver rimfire scope and on 7x its blury at 30 ft turn the power down to 2x and its clear.  Just use the lower powers up close.
Honestly on a 3-9 side focus you wont see a lot of difference as you turn the knob  that becomes a more important feature with higher power scopes.

Kinda figured the smoke &mirrors part. Just wondered if the 3-9 glass was the same as the 4200. I think the Bushell line is a good hunters scope for the money.....love the glass and HD Raingaurd mainly on the 4200 but the thin turrets has to go.

Have you tried the DOA reticle ? In the market for one and I have a monarch BDC but I don't care for the circles.

I have a Trophy with the DOA reticle and a Burris with a ballistic reticle...I prefer the Burris with the simple hashes.  The DOA on the Bushnell is a little too busy for me.

Ive had both the Elite 4200 3-9x40 and the Elite 3-9x40 side by side. They are exactly the same scope except it says elite instead of Elite 4200 on the ring around the objective bell. The lens coatings on the Elites is more purple tinted which I would assume is the new WIDE BAND COATING that they are talking about and they are supposed to be filled with argon instead of Nitrogen now. Optically I could barely tell them apart except the newer Elite seemed to me to have a hairs better Contrast in low light and I mean a hair if even....It may have seemed that way to me because I was looking so hard for any difference. I did notice one thing though, it seemed like the older 4200 appeared a little brighter somehow. I believe the new coating on the elites may enhance contrast a hair but at the same time dulls the image slightly. Either way the difference is so small I wouldnt worry about using either on as they appear to be the same scope.
I would like to point out that the SIDE FOCUS MODEL ELITES are made in CHINA not Japan and that is why they are different and cheaper.I would steer clear of those.
