i did a comparison for two weeks between 3 3x9x40's
4200 elite
nikon monarch ucc
zeiss conquest

to be real honest they were so close i could call a winner in two weeks time, under most light conditions they all performed with similar results i liked the reticle on the conquest best out of the three, but for $150 more im not sure its worth it over the 4200. if i had to pick one i would buy the bushnell, rainguard is awesome, no plastic turret issues to deal with like on the conquest.

do the plastic turrets apply to the 6x20x50 models. i noticed that the ones with target turrets looked ok at least in the picture, but the ones with the hunter turrets may indeed be plastic, correct?

Comparison of a Conquest vs some competitive scopes ( including the 4200 Elite) . I went into the "test drive" with the intent of buying a Conquest, but afterwards I didn't see the value in the extra $150 over the 4200 Elite.

Head positioning got a bit critical at the higher powers. Was great at 12x and under. That's why I rarely used my Conquest above 15x. Sold it recently to fund another scope in a lower magnification range. Personally I will not buy anything above the 4-14 or 3-15ish range again.

The conquest does have great glass but Nikon offers a better eye relief, you can not go wrong with the 4200 elite either.  Like you I could not really tell a difference when looking through all scopes...for me the deciding factor was eye relief 4 inches with Nikon and their warranty.  Take the difference of the conquest and buy several boxes of ammo instead and go with bushnell or nikon.
