I'm considering purchasing a Bushnell 4200 and am trying to decide between the 2.5-10x40 or 3-9x40. Right now I am leaning towards the 3-9 because I wouldn't use the 10x and am trying to keep things on the light and compact side and don't think the extra length, weight, and price are worth it. Are these two scopes equal in all other areas besides zoom range or am I missing something (thought I saw something on another post about the 3-9 being Elite3200 parts or something).
Why isn't the Elite 4200 3-9x40 listed on the Bushnell website? Thanks for any info and also for all the info on the other posts, just found this place as you can tell this is my first post. |

Optically and mechanically they are the same. There were rumors awhile back that Bushnell was going to discontinue the 4200 3-9 because it was eating into the sales of the 2.5-10.

Well, I don't know why it would be void because it was a rumor. I still see these scopes here and at many other places for sale so who knows. Frankly, I don't know how Bushnell didn't see that one coming.

That's the way I understand it too. I think the reason it's not listed is it's not a legitimate 4X erector hence the 4200 designation.

They do share the same parts however the 4200 is fully multi coated and the 3200 is multi coated.
