Has Bushnell added a 3-9 x40 model to their 4200 line up? If so , Why? Does anyone know if it has a fast focus eyepiece and what kind of eye relief does it have? I tried to look it up on the Bushnell website but it does not even list or mention this new model.

I saw a couple of them for sale on Ebay and I just now noticed that this very website has them listed for sale but has no picture or specs listed yet. I corrected the earlier post, it was supposed to read 3-9x40 not 2-9x40. Maybe they just put the 4200 glass in the browning scope tubes and quit making the brownings.

It's $100 less than the 2.5-10.   I'd go for that.

There is a press release referring to an Elite 3200 with ballistic reticle.  I see nothing on Bushnell website that refers to an Elite 4200 3-9x40.  However, if they make a 4200 in 3-9x40 or thereabouts with that Ballistic Reticle, I'll be the first to buy it.  Elite 3200 does not excite me nearly as much.

It would make no sense for them to do that in the 4200 being they have the 2.5-10 power available now.

It would be better for them to make it in the 3200 series.

http://www.riflescopes.com/products/423944M/new_bushnell_3-9 x40_elite_4200_rifle_scope.htm

SWFA only lists it with the Multi X reticle, but it seems like the Ballistic Plex would be easy enough.

Actually, it makes a lot of sense to offer a 3-9X40.  Probably more than 80% of scope buyers don't care about forums like this and just want to buy a good 3-9.  They'd be leery of a 2.5-10 because it's "different".  I'll bet Bushnell sells a bunch of them.  It would seem that  it would be easier to make a 3X zoom that's bright and clear than a 4X zoom.

Well it looks to be a bit smaller and lighter than a 2.5-10x40.  Since Bushnell was already making this configuration for Browning, I guess it was easy for them to come out with an Elite 4200 version with Rainguard.

Anyhow, Stephanie, if it is an Elite 4200 3-9x40 with a Ballistic Reticle, you can sign me up for one.

I wonder what country these are being made in??

I myself would choose the 2.5-10 power over this new 3-9....wonder why not make a 3-12 power in the 4200 series?

Can you see me now...

There is not enough difference magnification-wise between 3-9x and 2.5-10x for me to worry about.  I do, however, like smaller and lighter scopes, and I like holdover reticles.  I've got a gun that this scope would be just perfect for.

Stephanie, when are they coming in?  I may be coming down with a sever case of scope fever.

Fourinone, the current 4200's are made by Light Optical Works in Japan. They (LOW) are widely considered the best OEM Japanese scope makers. They make the 4200 and 3200 scopes for Bushnell. Too bad I have 6 4200's already. I hope someone tells me that there is a difference between the 2.5-10x40 and the new 3-9x40 other than the obvious.

I wonder if this new 3-9 will be made in the same place as the other 4200's??

The fact the current ones are made in Japan is one of the reasons I buy them.

I am curious, why does the new 3200 Elite in 3-9x40 with Ballistic reticle sell for only $20.00 less than the Elite 4200 in the same model? For $20.00 more why not get the 4200?
