I have narrowed my choices for a new scope down to the Bushnell Elite 3200 and the Nikon Buckmaster.  I plan on getting a 3-9x40 model of one of these.  Does anyone have any recommendations between the two.  Both of them are about the same amount of money so that will not be a deciding factor.  I have looked through both of them at the store, but I have not been able to carry them out into the field to see how they perform in low light.  I also think that they both have the same lifetime warranty, so that shouldn't be a deciding factor either.  I have eliminated the Leupold Rifleman and Burris Fullfield II from my choices because of the somewhat disfavorable reviews that I have seen in other respones on this forum.  I have also eliminated the Nikon Primos because it only comes with the BDC reticle (which I don't need) and the fact that it cost about $50 more than my above choices.  I may can get over the BDC reticle of the Nikon Primos if everybody really thinks that it is that much better and worth the extra money over my two choices above.  Thanks for all feedback.

Very, very close, though I'd give the nod to the 3200. Rain guard is the determining factor for me.

If you are planning to hunt, then the better glass of the primos is going to be worth the little extra you will pay.

I have to agree with what has already been said, if it's a choice between the two, the rainguard feature would be the selling point of the bushnell and you get a free jacket should you purchase from SWFA. But if you do desire better glass then the team primos is the way to go or the elite 4200 again with the rainguard. Big%20Grin

After looking at the Bushnell Elite 3200 product line on a couple of web pages, I see that Bushnell makes two products that are similar to one and another.  There is a Bushnell Elite 3200 3-9x40 and a Bushnell Elite 3200 3-10x40 Compact.  What is the difference between the two other than one is 3-9 and the other is 3-10.  They both have a 40mm objective, but one is listed as being "compact".  What would I loose with going with the "compact" model since I am planning on mounting it on a H&R Handi-Rifle.  Most of the time the compact model has a smaller objective than the comparable full size model, but it looks like both Bushnells have the same size objective.  Does the "compact" have a shorter eye relief or a smaller field of view at a given magnification?  Thanks for any comments back.

compact has a shorter tube for mounting on WSSM's as an example...I believe tube length is the only real difference other than 9 vs 10X on the top end
