I have a Bushnell 800 Compact that is doing some "weird" things.  Mainly, I am really having a hard time getting it to read past 300 yards.  I have been hunting in some really cold and stormy conditions the last month or so and wonder if this has something to do with it.

I have consistently been getting a "16" readout on the display.  I know it is not 16 yards and wonder if this is some type of "code" as to what might be going on.  I did replace the batteries just to make sure they weren't causing any of the problems. Any suggestions or ideas?

I was able to get it to range an elk at 378 yards Saturday thank goodness.  Elk went down hard with a 160 grain Accubond launched by a stiff load of H1000 powder.  I was grateful it worked well then.  But I had been trying to get it to work for several minutes before it started to read properly.

Thanks in advance for the advice and help.

I took a look at the trouble shoot manual and didn't see any of the problems you were having!

Have you had the unit over a year? If not, I would send it back to Bushnell and have them take a look at it..

If it has been over a year here is # you can reach them at, and I hope they can help you out...

Rangefinders are picky about batteries.  Make sure you have an "Alkaline" battery installed, and if that is not it, then your only other option is to send it in for repair.
