Anybody here have the Bushnell Compact 7X26?  I'd like to hear some opinions.  I had a pair of Custom Compact 6X25 for years that were my favorite bowhunting binocs, and I'm wondering if I would like these new ones as well.  My old ones just finally fell apart after at least 20 years.

These are simply newly branded B&L Custom Compacts.  The construction, optics, etc. are all the same as they have been for years.  I have never heard anything but rave reviews about this binocular.  They are considered by just about everyone to be the absolute pinnacle of optical performance in a compact binocular.  The only real downsides to them that I know of are that they, because they are a reverse porro prism design, are not as small as the ever popular compact roof prism binoculars and they are not waterproof.

If you can live with those two minor quibbles, you will be rewarded by enjoying the absolute best optical performance available.

lucznik's right, in the birding groups that I belong to, everyone's portable, multi-purpose binocular is a version of the Custom 7x26.  The first thing they like about them is the overall sharpness of the image--for a 26mm objective, they're as crisp as any 32mm roof that costs under $500.  The second thing is the great eye relief--they're rated at 17mm and it's every bit of that.  You get the full field of view even if you're wearing spectacles. The eye relief helps to overcome the relatively small exit pupil and makes alignment alot easier than you'd think.

Hunters usually frown on the lack of waterproofing--if I'm not mistaken the last Bausch & Lombs were only labeled 'water resistant'--and that was the reason that I bought a pair of 8x26 Legends instead.  I like the little Legends, but if I had it to do over again, I'd spend the extra money and buy the Customs.

Just my two cents.
