There are several different 6-24-40 or 50 Bushnell scopes.  One is very short and light others are very long.  Has anyone studied this group and have any feedback.  Looking to top off a 22-250.

There is one short version of the 6-24x40 w/side parallax focus adjustment that is a winner. It has a longer eye relief (4.5 inches) than the rest of the line. I believe weight wise they are all fairly close.

Roy,

Is it a winner on length (only).  Or is it a winner across the board with other factors considered.  I would imagine the glass (they put in the scope) is equal, but when you make such length/design changes, even if the coatings are the same, they could perform different?

Thank you very much for the response.

THey do perform differently.  Which one is a winner depends on your purposes.  What kind of a gun is this going on? Is it a heavy varminter? or walking-varminter?  What kind of lighting do you expect to encounter?

The side focus 6-24x40 is more compact and has longer eye relief.  The AO version is heavier and has shorter eyerelief, but substantially wider field of view and better depth of focus.

6-24x50 will allow you to use higher magnification simply due to a larger objective lens.

It really depends on what you want to do with the scope.
