I had a 4-16X44 burris signature scope with the posi-lock on my 300 win mag I could stack bullets for almost a year then I noticed that it wasn't hitting like it use to so I sent it back to burris to be repaired when it gets back I plan to put it on my AR-15 and find a better scope I was wondering if a bushnell 4200 elite 6-24X44 would hold up to my 300 win mag my longest shot will probably be 500 yards

Yes it will hold up to a 300 WM but for how long is always the question.  Bushnell 4200 scopes tend to hold up very well but nothing holds up like a fixed power when it comes to real abuse.  If you are going to hunt this rifle I would put the Leupold FX3 6x42 with long range duplex on it.  Then you will have a balistic reticle that works in low light at the maximum brightness you can get from a 42mm scope.

Why not put another identical Burris on the rifle, its sounds as though you had good luck with it.  I can't see go over 16x on a hunting rifle or even 12x for that matter.

well I was wanting to try to find a scope that will last longer than a year and I've heard good reviews on the bushnell and most of the people on here like the Leupold FX3 6x42.  I probably wont get the real high magnification but I also like shooting around the 12-16X magnification

I have heard that the burris rangefinder scope was a pretty good scope and I was wondering if it would be able to take the kick of a 300 win mag for very long it claims to be magnum recoil proof

Burris also a makes a 6x40 scope that's pretty darn good. It's Fullfield II, which many regard as "cheap." They are VERY good scopes for the price, believe me.

Probably would be broke by now if it was going to.  I've had good luck with 4200's too but I haven't used one on any big boomers.  My hunting buddy has the predecessor to the 4200 hundred (Bausch & Lomb) Elite in a fixed 4X on a Weatherby Mark V in 340 WM.  The scope works perfectly and has great optics after many years.  That gun is a good test of a scope too.  He tells me that's the only gun that ever made him bleed.

the only thing i can find fault with the 4200 elite (3x9) is the short eye relief, 3.3 inches scares me a little. i dont think i would put one on something like a .30-.378wby or a .300ultra mag, but thats just me. it has tracked very well on that rifle so far, i hope i see a deer in november to whack with the H&H. its very accurate for a medium bore.

I would not go after a laser rangefinder scope...short warranty and life is too short for a butt-ugly scope.

Also lots of reports on malfunctioning laser rangefinders and I wouldn't want that as a part of my scope.

not sure, its a g200 serial number, i would assume its no more than about 15yrs old.

I had a FFII on my 300 WM with not problems.  That was after several years on a 270.  My 300 WM now wears a Black Diamond, and never have had a problem.  Been over a year, and about 500 rounds through it.  I am surprised you had a problem so fast, but I would put another Burris on it.  Or  the new SS Variable.

If I do decide to get the bushnell I was wondering how clear their optics are I know that burris has amazingly clear optics because of my signature select scope

I have a 4200 that sat on 270 WSM and than a 300 Win Mag, with probably a couple hundred rounds through each rifle.  No problems.  I have another 4200 that is on a 375 H&H.  It has at least 100+ rounds through it, no problem.

I have a 4200 2.5-10 x 50 on a Browning 300 Ultramag  and a 4200 2.5x10x40 on the stainless 300 Weather by..Each has seen about 300 rounds and no issues..Both are optically very clear and bright ..

Regarding optical quality, I think the 4200s are amazingly good.  I have compared mine to VX-IIIs, Sightrons, Weavers and Nikons, and the 4200 is better.  One of my friends has a Zeiss and it may just be a bit better optically than the 4200, but the 4200 has a wider sight picture and greater mangification range.  I really don't think there is a better scope for less than double the 4200's price.
