Hey all. Been lurking awhile on this board. This is what I have, a Remington 700 Stainless Varmint Special with a fluted barrel. It is topped off with a Tasco 8X36 Scope. I put this combo together back in the fall of '94 to shoot ground hogs. Coyotes showed up in the winter of '94/'95 and that was the end of the groundhogs. I then put the gun up. 3 months ago I decided to try and make this a paper punching rifle but something has happened to the scope. It is not clear. It is fuzzy and I cannot adjust it out. In the trash it goes. Now then, I was looking at a Bushnell 4200 8X32. It's this model here: http://www.bushnell.com/general/riflescopes_elite4200_42-832 4m.cfm I was wondering if the Multi-X is a good reticle for this scope. I'm starting out at 100 yards but eventually (If) as my skills improve, I'll be moving to longer ranges. Is this a decent scope for what I'm about to try? Or should I be thinking of something else. Thanks for any replies.

No, a 20moa base + 20" of total elevation adjustment, will not get you to 1000 yards, unless you did some serious shimming, which is possible by someone who knows what they are doing.

I used Bushnell's "no questions asked" returned policy to send back the 8-32.  It took a little time to realize that even though it was advertised as a "Long Range Scope", it isn't.   I did send several, rather pointed letters to Bushnell regarding the advertising.  Oh well, with a return policy like that, the only thing I lost was a little time.....
