What are the main differences between  the 3200 and 4200 in a 3x9x40?  Also I found a scope for sale that says Bushnell Elite special edition but it doesnt states wich one.  thanks again.

The glass in the 4200 is better, the main tube is stronger (titanium alloy vs. aluminum alloy), the 4200 uses a one piece tube and has a much higher recoil rating.  Not sure about the "Special Edition" riflescopes. Bushnell made some special edition spotting scopes in their Elite line-up with the changes being cosmetic for the most part.

Ditto

Both are good values, but the 4200 for 249 bucks  is the way to go , and may be the best value out there right now. I have both ,and the 4200 is noticeably brighter in low light situations. Plus, it is rated to 10000 rounds of 375 vs 1000 ( I know--it's kinda  of a "whatever"  -but still .....)

I believe the Bushnell Elite Special Edition is simply the remainders of the Browning scopes minus the Browning logo.  I've seen them here and there.  For $150 they would be a real deal....4200 optics ( minus Rainguard) in a 3X9 format in the 3200 scope tube.  I guess the Bushnell warranty would apply----it says Bushnell on the box.

The guy selling said he use to be a dealer and that he only bought it because it came with a free coat. Said he got it last fall or so  I think he said it was fully multi coated with rain guard.  He gave me some numbers off it to 883940M0and AQ01656 if that helps at all.  Is there any where on the scope where it may say 3200 or 4200 that he may have overlooked?

Everything I can find on the net that has special edition is the 3200.  Around the objective of my 4200 it says 4200 so maybe have him check there.

"88" series are the Browning riflescopes. Very similar to the 3200's. Browning scopes do not have Rainguard coatings.

You were right Roy,i called Bushnell this morning and hey said it was basically equal to a 3200 model without rainguard, but had something called duraguard instead.  The guys selling says it brand new but he wants 160 shipped. I saw the 3200 on swfa for 175 new.  hmmm

You can find the Browning scopes at places on "closeout deals" for  much less than 160.
