does anybody   have  first  hand  experience approximately  what the  drops   represent on a  bushnell  elite when  using  a 308?

I dont have  a  range past  100 yards  and I cant  really sight  my rifle in where I am going to hunt.

I know that when sighted in at 100    it  still shoots  way hig  if  you use the first  drop at 150  but  150    yards  was the longest  safe  distance  I could  find :(

just following the  drop data  of my bullet I came  up with an estimation  and   ps'ed into  federals graph and bushnells reticle pictures. this is just an estimation, maybe some of you can verify it.

The answer to your question is more complicated than you might think  because each different bullet weight from each manufacturer will have a different trajectory.

There are other factors like barrel length that can affect the trajectory.  Temperature and altitude and angle as well as wind drift will also.  The lines on a blaistic plex reticle give you a known hold over point but there is no substitute for taking it to the range and shooting it at distance.

One  thing you might do on a 100 yd range is shight in the center cross hair at the center of the target then follow by shooting two rounds using each of the balistic lines aimed at the target center then take the target and measure how many inches above the center each line represents. At 100 yds one inch is 1MOA (minute of angle)at 200 yds 2 inches is 1MOA at 300 yds 3 inches is 1MOA. So a bullet that strikes one inch over at 100 yds that had a trajectory drop of 9 inches at 300 yds would strike dead on at 300 yds.  When you adjust your scope the clicks are usually 1/4MOA so one click at 100 yds is 1/4 in but that same one click is 1/2 in at 200 yds and 3/4 in at 300 yds. Compare where the bullet strike is with your known trajectory to verify the ranges at which your known hold over points represent
