Newb here.  Trying to figure out which reddot scope to use on my tactical Mini-14.
I took a peak at the Primary Arms M3 clone, and the dot was not nearly bright enough.
I had an Aimpoint 5000 on my Mini-14  before, and was stupid and sold it and went back to just irons.
Dumb, dumb, dumb - was a pretty good setup.  8" x 8" welding plates were toast at 50 - 75yds under various rapid fire, moving, and stationary techniques.

I do not have the money for another Aimpoint, health issues = money issues.
For a short time I had a Bushnell Trophy 1x32 MP red/green T-dot.  I got it for my M1A Loaded Standard, but that extra pound with a full 20rd mag was a bit much.  I really liked the scope though.

I have read good things about the Vortex Strikefire, but have heard the dot is not bright enough.
Frankly I cant remember what the T-dots brightness was like.  I do remember I could not go to the highest setting on the Aimpoint as it illuminated the inside of the scope tube too much.  The T-dot was built like a stinkin tank, and I really like the T.

So, is there any reason that the Vortex Strikefire would be a better purchase - and by better, I dont mean just a smidge?

Thanks Guys

I am in the process of doing a very in depth review on the Vortex Strikefire and Vortex SPARC.  So far I have been able to run the Strikefire through the ringer with about 400+ rounds of 223 ammo and some 22 work as well.  The dot is plenty bright even on a full sun day.  At 100yds with a 16" AR I got 2.5" groups with it off the bench.  It functions flawlessly.  Another big plus it has going for it is the Vortex lifetime transferable warranty.  Can't beat that!  There is no comparison between it and the Bushnell, bushnell is just not up to snuff so to speak, IMO.    IF you could swing the extra few bucks look at the SPARC as well.  It is a little more versitile IMO.  I did get to run it for a few clips so far but not enough to complete my review yet.  I was able to get on target quicker with the SPARC than the Strikefire but both were adequate.  On thing that is edging the SPARC over the Strikefire for me is like I sade the vertitility, I have it mounted now on a Dan & Wesson  357 mag for some testing.  It fits great and can't wait to get it tested and sighted in.    IF I had a mini to put a red dot on in your budget, the Vortex Strikefire would be my first, and only, choice.

The .357mag out to be a good test.  I am concerned over the StrikeFire complaints of lack of dot brightness.  They have a great warranty, but at the same time, it seems that a lot of stuff is being exchange.  Its great to have good warranties and CS, its better not having to return stuff.

There is so much info on reddots mounted on the AR platform.  The operating system on the Mini is very different and far more harsh.  It can beat up scopes pretty good.  Theres the carrier slamming into the receiver, but the real kill is when the op rod slams into the gas block.

Again I didn't see any reason to say it wasnt bright enough and I used it on a cloudless sunny day at the coast.

Consideering the operating system I would definately stay with something that has a lifetime warranty that way if you find out long term that it wont hold up to that platform you can get it replaced and put  the new one on something else or run it till it breaks again.  Fixed power scopes seem to hold up better to harsh operating systems.  I have a 1x Burris on a 45-70 Encore pistol and it takes a lot of abuse.  I have an ultradot that that has a lifetime warranty and they have been around a long time but of the two you mentioned the Vortex would be the better choice.
