Heres something I found that was interesting. While checking out varminthunters.com, there was a post by longrangesupply.com stating most of his 50BMG and long range customers preferred the Bushnell elite 1500 because it ranged farther than the Leica 1200 (max 900 yards).

It was a suprise because it seems most everybody is sold on Leicas.

What were they ranging?  The furtherest that I have ranged anything with my CRF 1200 is 1361 yards to be exact.  As easy as it reads low reflective objects at 1200 yards, I am surprized that I can't get readings past 1400 on high reflective objects.  It may be internally limited.  One extremely valuable benefit that the Leica offers that the Bushnell and the Nikon do not is very good performance in low light conditions.  I did not realize this until I got the unit home and tried it out.

CWPINST,

I Emailed Longrangesupply about it and this was Don's answer.

If you want/need max distance, there is only one choice under $4000 --
Swarovski.
The Swarovski will hit 2000 yards on pickup truck sized targets, Leica
1200 will max out at 1300 on the same target and usually won't go past
1100, Bushnell Elite 1500 at 1600.

Here's the rest:

The longer the distance the bigger the target needs to be.  The
brighter
the sunshine, the bigger the target needs to be, or the closer you need
to be.

The Bushnell does OK for the money, will outrange the Leica by 300-400
yards on big targets every time.

The Leica does better out to about 700 yards on the smaller targets
than
the Bushnell does unless there is clutter behind the target, then the
bull's-eye / brush feature on the Bushnell sometimes allows a reading
where the Leica will not work.

Be aware that some Bushnell's won't do much past 800. If you get one,
test it on a two story building, light colored at 1500 yards, using a
tripod. If it won't hit 1500 in sunshine, send it back and get a
replacement. Be very specific that you want one that works as
advertised
and that you know the units will hit the 1500 mark based on other users
results.  They should take care of you.
We used to field test them all but it is pretty expensive in shipping
and time to field test them and replace them if they are lemons, so we
don't do that anymore.  Your best bet is to buy one and get pot luck,
then send it back to Bushnell yourself if it won't hit the 1500 yard
mark.

Was "learning" my Swaro Laser Guide today....the farthest consistent target was a 36" x 36" state road intersection sign.... 1988 yds.

The glass in this rangefinder is fantastic.
