Bushnell 1-4 or 1-6 scopes

I currently have a 1-4x 24 scope that Im using that Im not 100 percent sure I like and dont even know if i want to waste ammo sighting it in{brand will remain unamed}. If you are looking for a true 1x scope why not wait for the SWFA SS 1-6 x24 due out next month.Also you can get at least a $200 coupon if you order by 5/26/12.I'm sure that the glass will equal the Bushnell & the Illum reticle will be better.You can look up the scope on the OT.

If he is looking at the Trophy line I dare bet a $1000 scope will be out of his budget.

What is your price limit, maybe we can suggest some other options within it that you may want to look at.

I have never used either of the scopes you have listed but did have the Elite 4200 1.5-4.  The scope was mounted on a LR-308 and worked well, could be used with both eyes open, but the illumination was not visible in bright sunlight.  The only other issue that I had with the scope was that the eye relief changed quite a bit from 1 to 4.

PROBABLY  300.00 MAX , WHAT I THINK I REALLY LIKE IS THE BURRIS TAC30. ACTUALLY I LIKE THE RETICLE OF THE MILLETT BEST OUT OF ALL THE 1-4'S BUT IVE READ SO MANY THINGS ABOUT POOR QUALITY CONTROL I DONT THINK I WANT TO EVEN BOTHER. I DO LIKE THE FACT THAT THE BUSHNELL IS 1.5 TO 6 THOUGH AND I HAVE ALWAYS LIKED BUSHNELL SCOPES, THEY JUST SEEM TO WORK WELL WITH MY EYESIGHT.

I WAS JUST LOOKING AROUND AND FOUND THE HAWKE BRAND . NOT REALLY SURE OF THEM , WILL HAVE TO RESEARCH SOME BUT THE ECLPSE 1.25-4 MODEL LOOKS PROMISING.

Of all I've listed my top three if illumination didn't matter -

I found this thread while looking at scope options in the $300 range for a M4 I have at my farm. There are a couple guys I know at Ft. Campbell (with the 5th SFG, I'm with the 10th) that were able to attend Shot and look at allot of lower price scopes. Most all the scopes talked about in these posts I've asked about but the scope they were most impressed with was the Firefield 1-6X24. With their only complaint being it's reticle  being a bit busy. They reported the optics and mechanics seemed to be the best of what they looked at/through and handled. I just wish it had Ed Verdugo's GRSC reticle.

I'm only posting this to add another option, always do your own research.

Let me add in the higher price range (not ultra high) Vortex's new 1-6 Razor is very nice, I've been able to use play with it. And in the bit lower 1K range I'd buy (if I had the funds to throw) GSRC's 1-6 (now from Norden) in a heart beat.

Since I don't see a way to edit a post I also want to give "BigJimFish" a thank you for his recommendation of the Firefield 1-6X24 FFP scope after I initially heard about it. He has done hands on testing of the scope.
