What is the consensus on Burris made scopes? I am consider ing the Burris 4-12x Compact Rimfire /Airgun Scope for my custom 10/22. I currentlyhave an older Bushnell 3-9 and while it works ok, it leaves alot to be desired. I usually shoot just punching target paper from 25yds to 100yds and shoot sihlouttee's at 50yds to 75 yds. I like the fact that it has AO Target style turrets, is small and has the fine reticle. I have always been a fan of the just plain'o fine crosshair. Does anyone have any experience with Burris or this model scope? I was also looking into the Weavers, but really want feed back on this model scope. Thanks

While I  have not used this particular Burris I have had a Burris Shortmag 3-9 and a Burris 3-12x32 pistol scope both of which had extremely sensitive eye relief therefore I do not recommend any of the compact Burris scopes while the other lines seem to be good sturdy scopes. I would consider a 10x42 super sniper for $299. And while it is not a top of the line scope there are some advantages to the BSA Sweet 22 scopes, I cant guarantee how well it would hold up but could be a fun cheap scope.

Thanks for the info on the Burris compacts, I already own a supersniper and while I love it I don't think it is what I want for the Ruger. I would prefer to have a variable power scope. I like the little BSA's, but I am looking to upgrade to better glass, and I have seen the BSAs and they aren't up in the glass department. Are their any other scopes that offer the same functions in the lower power ranges that have better glass  than my Bushnell. It is an older model before the 3200 or 4200 so it is one of the more inexpensive models. Thanks.

How about the Sightron 3-9X32 Rimfire model?  It is an inexpensive scope, about the same price as the BSA Sweet 22 (less than $100), but the reviews I've read on this scope have been very positive.  It has to be better quality than the BSAs... and probably your older model Bushnell as well.

Unfortunately, there is a lack of high quality scopes truly optimized for rimfire use, meaning either parallax adjusted for 50 yards or equipped with parallax adjustment without going to a scope that is too large with too much magnification for rimfire use.  I have a Burris Short Mag scope, and U-friend is correct about the critical eye relief issue, which seems to be a problem plaguing all Burris compact model scopes.
