The Burris line up looks strong... Hard to decide between the 1-4X, 1.5-6X (or maybe the 2-12X) in XTR, Euro Diamond and TAC 30.

Going on a 16" flatop AR shooting mostly 200 yards and under and occasional 3-400 yard shot.

What do you think?

It it for paper punching, varmints, plinking, hunting?  The downside to Burris is they are heavy scopes.  May make your AR feel top heavy, but they are extremely durable well built scopes.  Had a couple of mine rolled on by horses with no adverse affects to them.

I personally like the idea of a 1-4 or 1-6 on my AR, but mine are build for close stuff.  mostly, I only run my Aimpoint Comp M2 on it.  Depends mostly on the type of shooting you will be doing.

re: use...

I won't be using the rifle for hunting so weight isn't my first concern... I so want to use the gun for plinking and a backup home defense rifle (I'm a shotgun guy).  Possibly 3 gun...

I do shoot targets too but I'm not a bench shooter once I'm sighted in.
