Can anyone direct me to more info (I ran a search but got nothing). Where is it made and other than the reticle, is it that much better than the Millet DMS?

Thanks

This should give you some more info if you haven't looked at it yet.  The XTR is still made in the USA.  The glass is supposed to be made in USA as well (that is what I was told when I talked to the techs at Burris).  The new models also have what is called stormcoat.  It is supposed to act like Bushnell's Rainguard.  Rainguard is amazing.  I am waiting to get my new 3-12 XTR.

I cannot comment on the Millet DMS.  I have never seen or played with one.  I can tell you I have been impressed and happy with all of my Burris scopes (Black Diamond, FFII, and soon to be XTR) and binos (Landmark II).

The last time I talked to them they said the glass was made in PA at the Schott USA plant.
Like Helo, I have been happy with Burris scopes from FF to Signature.

Burris XTR glass is Japanese to the best of my knowledge.  Burris claims assembly in America.

From the Burris website:
State of the Tactical Arts
The new XTR-14 1X-4X riflescope features the innovative XTR Ballistic 5.56 Reticle. A true 1X optic, it is shown matched to XTR Rings and a FastFire reflex sight, which is an offering in this fully-assembled configuration (ideal for M4’s and AR15’s #201903). It covers the tactical bases from entry work to long- range counter-sniper duties.

For Burris to be taken seriously in the tactical market, they should avoid positioning a 1-4x24 scope as suitable for "long-range counter-sniper duties."

I haven't played with the Burris but own the Millett, it is mounted on a Socom II used for hog hunts.  The Millett is a decent scope for $200, it has features I really like - but it is a $200 scope selling for $200.

Well .... in my opinion the best glass is either made in Germany or Japan ... sorry folks . Rancid ... plus there's $200.00 scopes being sold for $400.00 + . That's why Bushnell dumped the price of the 4200's .  Excellent  Burris makes a darn good scope .... I'd rate them well above a millet .

Yea, that's what I hear.  The Millett was out and available when I needed it and the Bushnell released a few weeks later - I should'a waited.

Anyone need a Millett?  This time, rather than look for "bang-for-buck", I think I'll play it safe and buy what I should'a the first time around.
