Are you stuck on a variable or would you consider a fixed power Super Sniper?

For a limited budget build its tough to beat the Super Sniper. I have one on an FAL. They track just as good as a MK IV, are almost as clear, are nice and bright, and have more adj than the MK IV.
I actually picked the SS 10X over a MK IV for the FAL and used the extra money for ammo, a railed cover, & rings.
If variable power is a must have IMO go with the Burris Tactical. I have refinished a few and they look like really good scopes.

That all depends on the qulaity of the used scope doesnt it. I would be ok with either but if the money is so tight that you cant save up a little longer and get the new scope of your choice there are other options. The 10x fixed power Super Sniper is a fine choice for lots of reasons priced at 299 or 399 with side focus. There are other viable choices in tactical scopes Leupold 3-9 Mark 4 PR is $399. IOR fixed 6x42 is $449.95 and for the about the kind of money that you would pay for the Burris you can buy this

Stay with the American purchase if you can. That is how I voted. Yes, I know that Zeiss conquest is made here. however, the Burris has the added advantage of being available with the illuminated or non illuminated Ballistic reticle. As well as several variations on their target turrets. Whether you choose this or the Zeiss, you still have to put countless hours into practicing your craft of shooting, so don't make the mistake that some people have been known to make and think that money spent replaces practice or bullets shot out from under any of these fixtures. I feel it is time toget off of my and wish all of you a great day!! Scott |

The Burris tactical will focus much closer than the Leupold and either will work well.
The favorite tactical scope with most police tactical teams has long been Leupold and my high dollar scopes are Leupold but I have seen one of the Burris Tacticals up close and was very impressed with it. Zeiss is known for their excellent glass. As for the SS - I would say that the 10x Super Sniper is a scope that has earned a lot of respect. I sure don't feel nearly as bad about dragging my $399 SS10x with side focus through the brush as I do my $1300+ Leupold tacticals. You are on the right track. I also like the IOR 6x42 Tactical and think it is worth consideing.
