I am looking at the Burris Fullfield II Tactical in the Ballistic Mil-dot, Falcon Menace and the Millett TRS-1.  What is the Pros and Cons?  Can you help me make this decision?  I like the the hash marks (MP) of the Falcon.  The Price is close but the Burris is at the high end of what I want to pay.  It is going on a Savage 10FP in .308 cal.  Thanks

The Burris and the Millett have better warranties and are here in the States. The Menace has slightly better glass.

Hi,

I have the Millett TRS-1 and am very pleased with it.  I have several friends who have bought the 4 Gen Millet TRS-1 and rave about them.  I can think of 6 friends right off of the top of my head who have them and like them very well.  They have them mounted on everything from a 221 Fireball to a 50 BMG.  My TRS-1 is mounted on my Custom 300 Win Mag and I'm waiting for a LRS-1 for my 338 Lapua Mag.  The TRS-1 can handle anything the 308 can do and it WILL hold zero.

Catch you later,

The Big Dog

I changed to the Falcon Menace 4.5-18x56.   I like the clarity of the glass and the reticle is awesome.  I have heard good things about them.  Thanks

I have compared The Millett TRS-1 and Falcon Menace 4.5-18 side by side. At 350 yards the TRS-1 resolved the slightest bit more detail but wasnt as bright as the Falcon. The Millett also has nicer clicks although they are 1/8 vs 1/4 and 0.1. Both of these scopes are very nice for the money. As an option I would also look at the new Leatherwood ATR Professional 7-30x50. In my testing this scope resolved more detail than the Millett and Falcon. It also features 1/2 MOA elevation clicks.

Welcome to The OT, Digit.

How's the Falcon's warranty department doing, ya'll?

Falcon Optics service is top notch. Very much a personal, hands on approach.

Falcon optics is trying. But from what I have heard you have to deal directly with the dealer that sold it to you. On Snipershide their is a thread on Falcon problems. But to Falcon optics credit a Falcon employee addressed all of the problems and offered solutions.

I looked through a Falcon Menace 4.5-18x56 mounted on a DPMS 223 and it was ok. But it took forever to zero it. It was not consistent in adjustment.

They have their place, but to me there are a number of choices that are equal or better for similar money. And when one considers that they only have a five year warranty and the others are a lifetime.

I have an SS10X42, a Millet TRS-1, Falcon Menace 4.5X18, Leupold VX-III's, Burris signature, and Bushnell Elite 4200's.   I really enjoy all of them.  None are below par.   If someone today made me just choose one of the bunch (I use for varminting mostly), I would stick with the Falcon Menace.  Not to say it is optically superior (although it has a slight edge on my millet), I just prefer the features and build quality.  My Leupolds seem best of the bunch for glass, with the Bushnells right there....very similar.  After that, goes to the Falcon and Burris with the SS and Millet not far behind.  The reality is, if compared to... other scopes made not that long ago, all of these scopes are just plain awesome.  I have NO clarity issues with any of them.  Just find the one that suits you best.  Warranty wise, they will all be taken care of by their perspective manufacturers (although I once had a hard time with Burris).   All of the above is just my personal experience.  Really, you can't go wrong with any of 'em.  They all are clear AND rugged as hell.  I've dropped my Millet and my Falcon, both held up to plenty of abuse (I'm a klutz hehehe).  Box tested both....perfect, repeatable and never lose zero.  Adjustments are spot on....I do like to shoot out to 700 yards and beyond with these and my MilDot master.  I'm not sure what happened to the poster before me....but my adjustments have been without issue.

Oh...and about the Falcon, you do handle warranty through the company that sold it.  This is fine by me.  If the thing doesn't break in the first few years with me, it isn't gonna break ever.
