Today I mounted a Weaver Grand Slam 6x20x44 on an Anschutz 1710 using Burris Signature rings. I had to run the vertical adjustment all the way up and still was shooting approx one inch low at 50 yards. Can someone please advise as to what size inserts to use to get me back to middle of adjustment range. Thanks in advance. Shelby Chastain |

First make sure you are using the 0's in both rings. Second re-center your reticle. Turn the adjustment until it stops then count revolutions back the other way until it stops, divide by two and turn it back the other way. Repeat for your windage adjustment. Determining which shims and where to put them is tricky and is 100% easier with a boresighter BTW. IF you are off that much my first concern would be to determine why. Is the mount faulty, receiver out of spec. or barrel bent, etc.? Try reversing the rings, in other words move the rear one to the front and vice versa, if the opposite problem occurs then you know one of the rings has a problem. If that gun uses a base and it can be reversed do the same with it. Try another scope and see if it does it. Eventually you will narrow down what the problem is through the process of elimination. The Signature rings will not fix your problem but they will compensate for it and judging by your zero I would say to use the 20's.
Use the inserts with the (+) in the bottom of the front ring for additional down movement.
Use the inserts with the (+) in the bottom of the rear ring for additional up movement. |
