I'm going to be buying a Remington Mountain Rifle LSS in 7mm-08 to be used mainly as a woods gun.  The two scopes that I have it narrowed down to are the Burris Signature Select 1.5x6 and the Weaver Grand Slam 1.5x5.

Any opinions on which would be a better choice?

Both are good scopes.  Personally I'd go with Burris Signature Select.  It is optically better to my eyes and has longer and less critical eye relief.  Also, Weaver has that oversize power adjustment ring that I find absolutely unnecessary.

You can't go wrong with either.  I have the GS on a Marlin 1895M that has taken a pounding at the range and for several moose seasons without a problem.  It's mounted with Leupold QRW's and I use a Burris Signature (Illum.) on QRW's as its back-up scope.
