It seems there's been a lot of Internet traffic calling into question the quality of optics being produced by Burris. I'm considering the XTR 1-4x24 for a recce type AR build but Im just a little spooked going in that direction do to the negitive chatter regarding same. Any information form it's end users would be welcomed.

There's also been talk here and there for years about how Burris scopes are tough, etc.
What kind of internet talk are you seeing?
Individual anecdotes don't amount to much, but a solid body of references which agree with each other might indicate something, if the people involved don't otherwise have a dog in the fight.

Thank you for your reply. The main point of my OP was not to confirm or refute Burris in general but to garner end user exp. and information regarding a specific Burris optic. Again, thank you.

I had the red dot XTR and liked it.

I've herd good things around here regarding their stuff but haven't owned owned one.

A few on the site swear by them.

While it is not a tac scope, a friend has a FullField II that took a spill off of a 4-wheeler while traveling.  POI did not shift.  Will plug the butler creek caps, no scratches on the lenses.

Thank you both for your posts. Hopefully this thread starts seeing some life and others will chime in on XTR's and/or like products.

I hava a XTR 3-12 mounted on a M14/M1A. After the first 20 rounds the crosshairs rotated inside the scope. Since I live near Burris, I took it to them for warranty. Got it back a few days later, a gouge on the battery cover (tool marks), and debris inside the tube. Took it back to Burris again, and the scope was replaced. Now, i am by no means an excellent shot, I have not done a box test, so far the scope is holding up pretty well. Would I buy another one? Maybe, I would like to see them get rid if the rotating ocular lens so my Butler Creeks would stay put when I change magnification. All in all a decent scope. I have seen poa/poi change on some when you turn up or down the magnification. Mine is not one of them. Just my opinion.
