I am in the market to purchase a new scope for my Remington 270 Win. Currently a 3x9x40 Burris Fullfield II sits atop of the rifle. I have been very happy with the current scope. It has been a very rugged scope and has never lost its zero and has decent optics. I am looking for a scope with a little more magnification that is as rugged as the Burris that I currently own. I have a $400 budget for this scope. I am a single parent that has custody of both of my kids, one of which is getting ready to go off to college so money is kind of tight and I am looking for the best bang for my buck. I hunt a variety of terrain that ranges from thick creek bottoms to large agricultural fields as well as powerline right of ways therefore shots can range from close to way out there. What are your suggestions or recommendations?

May I ask why you feel the need for more magnification?
That is a very good scope, Honestly I can't see why it need to be changed out. I think if it's not broken, keeping using it, save some cash. Then when you are in a better position in the future...you can allow more for something that is in a whole other league.

I have a Pentax Pioneer in that same power range and it is a very bright scope and has been very
reliable on a number of calibers. It is the same scope as the Fullfield II, both made by Burris. |
