Hi there,

I am thinking of getting a .223 for range work, out to 300yds. would the above scope be up to the job.... and also, does swfa export to the uk ???

The ballistic ret is the one to go for, would you say ??

cheers

Andy,

I just got my Burris 4.5-14x42 for my CZ452 (.17hmr).

Overkill for this rifle!  This is one stout scope, and I think you will be very pleased with it on a .223.  It's my second Burris (the other is a compact 4x), and I am hooked.  It's also my 2nd from riflescopes.com.

One reason I chose this scope is that if I decide to build another rifle later on, this scope will be fine for it.  I have moved the 4x around a bit, and I can think of nothing I will ever get that the 4.5-14 will not be perfect for.

JH

How do you like the eye relief on the Burris?  Over on rimfirecentral some have complained about the critical eye relief on Burris scopes.  I don't have one, nor have I used one, so I don't know, myself.

I have no complaints so far.  I have only been to the range once with the new Burris on it, eye relief is fine, and right at the Burris specs.

For the same price, consider a Weaver Grand Slam.  I got one over a Leupold at the recommendation of the folks here, and I've been extremely happy with it.  (I actually got the 6x20x40).  Crystal clear glass, nice and bright, very positve clicks on the finger style adjustment.  I just was at the range over the weekend, and got a chance to use this again on one of my ARs.  It's a pleasure to shoot with this scope.  You might also look at a Nikon Monarch...it's about $50 more, but the Nikons are very nice as well.  No problem with the eye relief on this scope, I actually had it on a .22-250 as well, and it worked great there as well.

I've got the varminter reticle in mine...very fine crosshairs with a micro dot.  Great for target work, and wouldn't obscure any of your target should you go varmint hunting.

All great suggestions.  It is hard to beat a Grand Slam I must agree.  The Burris Ballistic Plex reticle is very attractive though.

Sorry we only do business in the U.S.A.

I have ended up going for a bushnell elite 4200.....

Why,oh why don't you boys get out to the uk and set up business.  I have bought the above for $400 from the US, in the UK they sell for....sit down....comfortable.......$1200 !!!!!!

Are we getting ripped off !!!!

Andy.

For $1200 someone here ought to be able to personally work with you.  That buys a pretty nice box and first class postage
